Resilient Leadership, Reliable Systems, and Open Conversations
Welcome
The next few weeks are shaping up to be full of energy and exciting conversations.
I'll be joining an IEEE webinar on leadership and safety, always an honour to connect with a new audience and explore how we create workplaces that truly work for everyone. I’m also stepping into the guest chair on an upcoming podcast, which is a fun switch from my usual role as host of The SAFE Leader. It’s a brilliant opportunity to share more about my journey and learn from others doing great work in this space.
More details coming soon, but for now, I’m just feeling grateful for the connections and opportunities still unfolding.
Join Us Next Week!

Don’t forget! Next week I’ll be hosting a Pride Month Ask Me Anything session on Zoom.
This will be a space for open, honest, and human conversation. No scripts, no pressure, just a chance to connect, reflect, and speak freely about identity, leadership, mental health, inclusion at work, or whatever else is on your mind.
Everyone’s welcome! LGBTQIA+ folks, allies, and the simply curious.
Adriènne Kelbie CBE on Leadership That Lasts
In this episode of The SAFE Leader Podcast, I sit down with Adriènne Kelbie CBE, former Chief Executive of the UK’s nuclear regulator, for a powerful, no-holds-barred conversation on what leadership really means.
Adriènne shares her story with honesty and clarity, from growing up in hardship to stepping into one of the country’s most high-stakes roles. We explore the cost of poor leadership, the role of emotional intelligence in technical fields, and the courage required to lead with authenticity.
If you've ever wondered how to lead without losing yourself, or how to create psychological safety in systems under pressure, this episode is for you.
High Reliability Isn’t Just a Catchphrase

This week’s Safety on the Edge article focuses on a standout talk delivered by Rajni Walia and Mike Snyders from DEKRA. Their session unpacked what makes high-reliability organisations (HROs) so effective, and why the "secret sauce" is more human than you might think.
From leadership consistency to emotional regulation, the behaviours that create safety in complex systems are ones rooted in trust, clarity, and communication. My article dives into why it's not enough to just adopt HRO practices, we need to embody them, too.
