Pride Month Talks Begin, Safety Metrics Reimagined and Coaching Available
Welcome
As we move into June and the warmth of late evenings and longer days, I’m feeling energised for what’s ahead. PRIDE month officially begins this week, and I’m proud to be kicking things off with a series of talks exploring inclusion in engineering and beyond.
I'll be starting next week with ASME’s Pride in Engineering event, followed by a session with the National Farmers Union on gendered language in the workplace. I’ll also be joining ABB for a keynote and speaking with IAPS shortly after. It’s encouraging to see so many organisations still actively investing in these conversations, even in a climate where progress on LGBTQ+ inclusion can sometimes feel like it’s stalling.
I still have a few available speaking slots throughout June. If you’re looking to create space for honest reflection, storytelling, and leadership on inclusion this PRIDE month, I’d love to hear from you!
You can book a quick 15-minute call with me here to see how we can tailor something for your organisation.

Innovation, Storytelling & Psychological Safety

Last week I joined a Defankle Innovation dinner in Edinburgh, a brilliant gathering of minds from across the UK and beyond. The conversations spanned everything from social systems to storytelling and psychological safety.
What stood out most?
Storytelling isn’t optional. It’s central to leading, communicating complexity, and creating buy-in.
Psychological safety is the foundation of innovation. Without it, ideas don’t land, and people don’t show up fully.
Sometimes, innovation isn’t about tearing down systems. It’s about regenerating and reimagining them with care.
A huge thanks to everyone who came. The energy was real, and I’m still processing the insights.
Feeling Stuck? Let’s Talk

Over the past few months, I’ve quietly opened up coaching spaces, and the response has been incredible. This isn’t about generic leadership advice or off-the-shelf models. It’s for those who feel like something needs to shift but aren’t quite sure how to move forward.
Maybe you're navigating career uncertainty. Maybe you’re leading others but feeling increasingly disconnected. Or maybe you simply need a space to think out loud with someone who gets it.
This is an open invite to explore what’s next, with clarity, direction, and renewed energy.
If that resonates, book a 15-minute chemistry call with me. Let’s see where you’re at.
Radical Humility with Urs Koenig
In this episode of The SAFE Leader Podcast, I’m joined by Urs Koenig, UN and NATO peacekeeper, ultra-endurance athlete, executive coach, and bestselling author of Radical Humility. From racing across America to returning to the military after 22 years, Urs brings real stories that challenge outdated views of leadership.
We explore:
Why humility is a competitive edge, not a weakness
The emotional power of storytelling in leadership
How to build psychologically safe, high-performing teams
What it means to be “tough on results and tender on people”
What Happens When Safety Becomes a Scorecard?

This week’s featured article is based on the powerful opening keynote by Kim Greene, CEO of Georgia Power, from the Safety on the Edge conference.
In her talk, Kim challenged the industry to go beyond surface-level metrics and ask deeper questions: What happens when safety becomes a scorecard? Are we truly creating safer workplaces or simply reporting the absence of incidents?
I reflect on how her message ties into broader conversations around psychological safety, leadership integrity, and the risks of measuring what’s easy over what matters.
