Check out The SAFE Leader Insights 002: hello from NYC, new podcast announcement, HSE Recruitment Roundtable Event, the launch of the EqualEngineers Membership Package, and The SAFE Leader Training pilot
Welcome!
I’m thrilled to share more updates, insights, and opportunities for us to connect as we continue exploring the intersections of safety, leadership, and inclusion.
As we dive into 2025, my work remains deeply focused on empowering leaders to build safer, more inclusive workplaces. From thought-provoking conversations on The SAFE Leader Podcast to delivering impactful training sessions and attending key industry events, I’m committed to driving meaningful change in the engineering and safety professions.
This year, I’m excited to expand my reach—being based in New York now allows me to easily serve audiences across North America, while my regular visits to the UK ensure I stay connected with colleagues and clients in Europe.
I’m available for keynote talks, conference presentations, and leadership offsites throughout 2025. Whether you’re looking for an inspiring speaker for your next event or practical tools to elevate your leadership team’s approach to safety and inclusion, let’s make it happen.

The SAFE Leader Podcast Ep. 004
I’m excited to share the latest episode of The SAFE Leader Podcast!

In this episode, I sit down with Phil Clarke, the Head of Health and Safety at Care UK, to discuss his fascinating career journey. Phil shares how he transitioned from the Intelligence Corps to the dynamic world of environmental health and safety.
We dive into his unique balance of operational expertise and academic pursuits, including his ongoing PhD research. We also explore the challenges and rewards of working in the care sector, fostering inclusive work environments, and navigating the ever-evolving landscape of health and safety.
Phil and I discuss technological advancements, such as AI and robotics, and their impact on the profession, offering valuable insights into the future of health and safety. This episode is packed with real-world experiences and visionary ideas that I’m sure you’ll find inspiring.
HSE Recruitment Roundtable Event

On 6th February, I will be attending a roundtable event in London, hosted at the Pinsent Masons offices. This exclusive session, part of the HSE Recruitment Network, will bring together Heads of and Director-level Safety and Sustainability professionals to explore the intriguing relationship between risk and diversity.
During my talk, I will discuss how traditional risk-averse safety cultures can unintentionally hinder progress in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Together, we will examine strategies to balance risk management with innovation, fostering workplaces that are both safe and inclusive. This community has been an important forum since its establishment in 2016, and I look forward to contributing to the discussion.

The SAFE Leader Training Pilot

Next week marks the launch of an exciting new chapter for The SAFE Leader framework, inspired by my book The SAFE Leader. I will be delivering the first pilot training programme with leadership teams from Rolls-Royce SMR.
This in-person training represents the start of a larger effort to equip leaders with practical tools to embed safety and inclus
ion within their organisations. Over the coming months, additional sessions will be held, and we are already in discussions with other companies to host pilots throughout the year.
If your organisation is interested in joining this pioneering initiative, please get in touch to explore how The SAFE Leader training can benefit your leadership team. Learn more and register your interest here.
