Engineering Stories, Inclusive Workplaces And Celebrating Talent
Welcome

Hello from Fuerteventura!
This week I'm enjoying some family time in the sunshine before returning to the usual pace of work. It's been great to switch off, spend time with the family and recharge the batteries, although if you're anything like me, you'll know that fully disconnecting is easier said than done. There's always the occasional email to check, a message to reply to, or an idea that finds its way into your notes.
Still, it's been a welcome reminder of the importance of taking time away and creating space to reflect. I'll be back in the swing of things very soon, with plenty of exciting projects, podcasts and events coming up over the summer.
EngineeringLondon Continues
This week we released the second episode of EngineeringLondon, this time exploring one of the UK's most recognisable landmarks: Big Ben.
Following the launch of our first episode at St Paul's Cathedral, it has been fantastic to see the response to the series so far. The goal has always been to make engineering more visible by uncovering the fascinating stories, innovations and challenges behind the landmarks we often walk past without a second thought.
We're only just getting started.
The next episode is already lined up and ready to go live next week. The question is... can you guess which London landmark we'll be exploring next?
Stay tuned across my social channels to find out.
Engineering Talent Awards 2026

With the shortlist now officially announced, the focus turns to the awards ceremony itself.
The Engineering Talent Awards continues to grow year after year, celebrating the people, teams and organisations helping to create a more inclusive future for engineering and technology. This year's shortlist showcases incredible talent from across industry, academia and education, and I can't wait to celebrate with everyone in October.
🎟️ Early Bird ticket sales are now live.
Whether you're joining as an individual, bringing colleagues, hosting clients, or celebrating shortlisted nominees, there are a range of ticket and table package options available.
Early Bird pricing is available until the end of July (or until allocation is exhausted), so now is the perfect time to secure your place before prices increase.
This Week on The SAFE Leader Podcast
This week I'm joined by Jane Hatton, founder of Evenbreak and one of the UK's leading advocates for disability inclusion in employment.
Jane shares the remarkable story behind building Evenbreak, the world's first global disability job board run by disabled people for disabled people, and reflects on how her own experience of becoming disabled transformed both her life and career. One theme that runs throughout the conversation is the idea that the barriers people face are often created by systems and workplaces, rather than by disability itself.
We also explore neurodiversity, workplace adjustments, flexible working and why organisations need to stop designing workplaces for "perfect employees" who don't actually exist. Jane's perspective is both practical and thought-provoking, reminding us that accessibility isn't a specialist issue, it's something that benefits everyone.

I love helping organisations where the angle I take with the work I do might help in someway have you make traction in your culture.
