Celebrating Connection, Visibility And The People Shaping Engineering
Welcome
This week’s newsletter is a slightly shorter one from me.
It’s half-term in the UK, so I’m currently away in Greece spending some time with family and taking the opportunity to properly switch off for a few days before things ramp up again.
Even while away, it’s been great to see plenty happening across EqualEngineers, including another exciting new partnership announcement this week.
EqualEngineers & the Royal Aeronautical Society

This week we were proud to announce a new partnership between EqualEngineers and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS).
The partnership represents another important step in building stronger connections across the Professional Engineering Institution landscape, bringing together shared interests around inclusion, leadership, accessibility and the future of engineering talent across aerospace, aviation and space.
We’re looking forward to collaborating on future activity, conversations and initiatives that help create more inclusive and psychologically safe engineering environments across the sector.
As part of Pride Month activity, the Royal Aeronautical Society is also hosting the RAeS Pride Reception 2026 at No.4 Hamilton Place in London.

The event will bring together LGBTQ+ professionals and allies from across aerospace, aviation and space for an evening focused on visibility, community and inclusive workplaces.
Hosted by the RAeS EDI Team alongside the RAeS Pride & Allies Network, the reception will provide an opportunity to connect, celebrate and recognise the contributions of LGBTQ+ people helping shape the future of the industry.
Engineering Talent Awards 2026

The Engineering Talent Awards are now moving into one of the most exciting stages of the process: judging is officially underway.
This year we are celebrating excellence across 14 award categories, recognising individuals, teams and organisations helping to shape a more inclusive engineering and technology sector.
The awards include:
7 individual categories celebrating talent, leadership, allyship and impact
7 organisational categories recognising employers, teams and initiatives driving meaningful change across industry
While the judges begin reviewing entries, there are still opportunities for organisations to get involved ahead of the awards ceremony in October.
Sponsoring a category is a powerful way to demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion while also connecting your brand with emerging and established engineering talent from across the sector.
If your organisation would be interested in supporting this year’s awards, we’d love to hear from you.
This Week on The SAFE Leader Podcast
This week I wanted to revisit a brilliant conversation with Dr I. David Daniels, whose work focuses on psychological safety, psychosocial hazards and compassionate leadership.
David shares his journey from a career in the Fire Rescue Service into occupational health and safety leadership, reflecting on the experiences that shaped his perspective, including witnessing the loss of colleagues and recognising the long-term impact unresolved trauma and conflict can have within workplaces.
David brings a deeply human perspective to safety leadership, reminding us that compassion, empathy and openness are not “soft skills”, they are essential foundations for healthy organisations.

Please reach out and connect with me on LinkedIn if we are not already connected.
I love helping organisations where the angle I take with the work I do might help in someway have you make traction in your culture.
