Taking A Breath, While Momentum Continues
Welcome
It’s the start of Easter, and a welcome opportunity to slow things down slightly.
With the kids off school, I’ll be taking some time to step away and spend it with family. These moments of pause are important. In a world that moves quickly, and in a profession that often prides itself on constant problem-solving, taking time to disconnect can be just as valuable as the work itself.
That said, there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, and I’m looking forward to sharing more on that in the coming weeks. Wishing you all a great Easter break!

Deadline Extended

A quick but important update! We’ve decided to extend the nominations deadline for the Engineering Talent Awards to:
📅 24 April (midnight)
We’ve had a number of messages from people who wanted to submit but needed more time, whether due to holidays, workload, or simply wanting to do their nomination justice.
So if you’ve started an entry and haven’t quite finished, or if you’ve been meaning to nominate someone but haven’t yet begun, you’ve now got a bit more time.
Coming Soon - NEW Training Site

Behind the scenes, we’re currently building a dedicated training website for EqualEngineers.
This will bring together the full range of training we offer, available both in-house and online, making it easier for organisations to explore and engage with our programmes.
As a sneak peek, the platform will include courses across areas such as:
Early Careers & Outreach
Engineering Fundamentals
Foundations of Inclusion
Inclusive Leadership
Masterclasses
Talent, Recruitment & Retention
Workplace Culture & Psychological Safety
More details on this will be coming next week.
In the meantime, if you’re already thinking about training for your organisation, feel free to get in touch.
Upcoming Webinar with IOM3

As part of our growing partnerships with Professional Engineering Institutions, we’re hosting an upcoming webinar with the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) focused on accessibility in engineering.
This session will bring together a panel of speakers from across the sector to explore how we can better remove barriers, support disabled engineers, and create more inclusive workplaces and learning environments.
Through discussion and audience Q&A, we’ll look at practical actions both organisations and individuals can take to make engineering more accessible for everyone.
This Week on The SAFE Leader Podcast
This week I sat down with Michael Bach, internationally recognised inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility expert, for a timely and thought-provoking conversation.
Michael shares his journey from child actor to global DEIA leader, reflecting on his work in activism, his time at KPMG, and his leadership of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion. Together, we explore what it really takes to move beyond compliance and towards cultures where people feel genuinely seen, valued and able to thrive.
We also discuss the growing backlash against DEI, why change often takes longer than we expect, and how leaders can avoid performative action in favour of work that truly sticks. Michael speaks candidly about identity, resilience and the importance of making inclusion practical, honest and human.
Let’s Connect!
Please reach out and connect with me on LinkedIn if we are not already connected.
I love helping organisations where the angle I take with the work I do might help in someway have you make traction in your culture.
