Finishing Off January With Events, Nominations, And Bold Conversations In Engineering
Welcome
What a week! It’s been a packed one for EqualEngineers with multiple events and activities running across the country.
We kicked off with a brilliant EKO STEM engagement event in Scotland, continuing our mission to inspire the next generation. We then hosted an Insight Day through our Pathways Programme at the Rolls-Royce SMR site, giving students and early-career engineers a glimpse into future opportunities.
And today, two exciting events are happening at once:
In Manchester, our Disability Network is running its first in-person event of the year, “Thriving or Surviving? Disability in Engineering,” with our amazing Co-Chairs, speaker Katy Deacon, and our very own Kat attending.
In Birmingham, Fayon is live at the MiniVation Fest hosted by Birmingham City University, where our Pathways Programme partners are showcasing what’s possible to the engineers of tomorrow.

Nominations Open Monday!

Nominations for the Engineering Talent Awards 2026 officially open on Monday 5th February at midday!
Now in their seventh year, the ETAs celebrate the individuals, teams, and organisations driving change and building a more inclusive engineering and tech sector. If you’ve got a colleague, a project, or an organisation making waves, this is your moment to nominate them.
Want to support the ETAs? We’re still inviting sponsors to get involved and support an award category. You’ll gain powerful visibility as a champion for inclusion in engineering.

OEUK HSE Conference

I’m excited to share that I’ll be giving the closing keynote at the upcoming Offshore Energies UK HSE Conference later in February. The theme, Trust. Transparency. Transformation., aligns perfectly with the work we’re doing at EqualEngineers.
🗓 Wednesday 25th February
📍 P&J Live, Aberdeen
From psychological safety to emissions performance, the event is set to explore HSE through multiple lenses. I’ll be reflecting on how trust and transparency form the foundation of inclusive safety leadership.
This Week on The SAFE Leader Podcast
In this week’s episode, I sit down with leadership coach and business owner Andy Neillie for a conversation on what defines great leadership today.
We explore:
Why character and humility matter more than status
How to lead yourself first, before leading others
The unseen work of quiet leaders who build lasting trust
Why the ego-driven model of leadership needs a rethink
It’s one of our most reflective and practical episodes to date.
Let’s Connect!
Please reach out and connect with me on LinkedIn if we are not already connected.
I love helping organisations where the angle I take with the work I do might help in someway have you make traction in your culture.
Feel free to get in touch here.
