UK Supreme Court Ruling, Building Business Connections with NGLCC, and The SAFE Leader Open Course

Welcome!

Yesterday, the UK Supreme Court handed down a ruling on the legal definition of sex. While the details of the judgment are publicly available, I want to use this space to acknowledge the real impact this news has on trans and non-binary communities.

Over the years, through co-founding InterEngineering and running EqualEngineers, I’ve met so many brilliant, brave individuals who continue to inspire me. This ruling doesn’t just affect law books, it affects lives, dignity, and people’s day-to-day experiences. It has the potential to create more scrutiny, more fear, and more isolation, not just for trans people but for anyone who doesn’t conform to someone else’s expectations.

What’s particularly painful is watching some openly celebrate this decision while others are left feeling vulnerable and invalidated. At a time when division feels so dominant, we must remember the power of empathy, compassion, and solidarity.

To anyone feeling shaken: you are seen, you are valid, and you are not alone. If you know someone who might be affected by this, reach out. A simple message can go a long way. At InterEngineering and EqualEngineers, we are here. We are building a safe and inclusive online community, and we welcome anyone who needs a space to feel supported.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and restorative Easter break. Let's continue to be there for each other.

Building Inclusive Business Connections

Yesterday, I attended the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) Supplier Access Summit in New York, hosted by TD Bank. The event brought together small business owners, corporate partners, and procurement officers to explore pathways to contracts and inclusive supplier opportunities.

From discussions on AI and small business, to tariffs and supply chain realities, the event was a powerful reminder of how innovation, visibility, and collaboration are shaping the future of inclusive business. It was especially encouraging to engage in speed networking sessions that allowed real-time connections between Tier 1 suppliers, technical resource providers, and procurement leads.

Opportunities like this don’t just open doors, they create a platform for underrepresented businesses to be seen, heard, and valued. I look forward to continuing these conversations and bringing what I’ve learned back into my own work.

Mark Wilson on Purpose, Positivity & Leading with Integrity

In this week’s episode of The SAFE Leader Podcast, I’m joined by Mark Wilson, HSE and Operations Director at Offshore Energies UK. From giving up alcohol and caffeine to climbing the ranks from private soldier to major in the military, Mark shares the deeply personal choices that have shaped his approach to leadership.

Our conversation dives into what authentic leadership really means, especially in high-risk environments. Mark opens up about the importance of wellbeing, building cultures of care, and how positive leadership can create a ripple effect through teams, projects, and organisations.

Whether you're leading a large team or just starting your leadership journey, this episode is packed with practical advice, inspiration, and hard-won lessons on what it takes to lead with purpose and impact.
