The Biggest Online Engineering Community, The SAFE Leader Open Course Launch, Podcast on Psychological Safety and Speaking at Safety on the Edge Global Forum

Welcome to My Newsletter!

If this is your first time receiving The SAFE Leader Insights, welcome! This space is where I share weekly reflections, thought leadership, and practical insights on inclusive leadership, safety in engineering, and psychological safety. My goal is to keep you informed, inspired, and engaged with the latest discussions shaping the future of our industry.

I’m also excited to share that the EqualEngineers team is currently building what will become the largest online community for engineers in the UK. Right now, it’s in development, but once it’s live, you’ll be the first to know. This interactive platform will bring together all of our networks, offering dedicated spaces where members can connect, share insights, ask questions, and stay up to date with the latest news and events. Imagine having a professional network of like-minded engineers—co-chairs, members, and experts—right in your pocket!

Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this week’s insights.

Join the First Cohort in May

The response to The SAFE Leader Open Course has been fantastic, and I’m looking forward to welcoming the first cohort in May. If you haven’t heard about it yet, this programme is designed for individual professionals and SMEs who want to embed inclusive leadership and safety culture into their work.

Previously, The SAFE Leader training was only available to large organisations, but after receiving interest from individuals and small teams, we created an accessible, structured programme for those who want to develop these critical skills. The standard course covers all four modules—Share, Act, Feel, Empower—while the VIP option includes three coaching sessions and ongoing support directly with me.

If you or your team are interested, you can find all the details below. If you have any questions, you can also book a 15-minute discovery call.

The Hidden Hazards of Work and Safety

This week on The SAFE Leader Podcast, I speak with Dr. I. David Daniels, a leader in occupational health and safety with a deep focus on psychological safety and psychosocial hazard mitigation. Dr. Daniels shares his journey from Fire Rescue Service to advocating for mental health and inclusion in the workplace, offering powerful insights into the emotional toll of frontline work and the need for systemic change.

We discuss the challenges of diversity and inclusion in high-risk industries, the impact of unresolved trauma and conflict, and how leaders can create more psychologically safe and compassionate workplaces. Dr. Daniels’ work is essential in shaping resilient safety cultures, and his expertise offers valuable lessons for leaders across all sectors.

If you’re interested in how psychological safety intersects with leadership and mental health, this episode is a must-listen.

Safety on the Edge – See You in California

At the end of March, I’ll be heading to California to speak at the Safety on the Edge Global Forum. This event brings together leaders, innovators, and safety professionals to explore the future of safety culture, risk management, and leadership. I’m honoured to be part of the speaker lineup and look forward to sharing insights on inclusive leadership, psychological safety, and the evolving role of safety in engineering.

Beyond speaking, I’ll be using this opportunity to network, connect with industry leaders, and explore new business opportunities in the US. If you’re attending, I’d love to meet up—whether to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, or explore potential collaborations.

If you’ll be there, let me know—I’d be happy to catch up.
